SG15, and water :)

Post by Kulgan »

As you may well be aware, our next event begins tomorrow evening at 9pm. Those who are attending the event, please pay close attention :)

First, let me state that we are planning to go ahead with the event.

Like many areas of southern England, the venue has been undergoing some flood-related troubles over the past few days. It has largely escaped the local problems, however for obvious reasons we are being cautious about the weather forecasts over this weekend.

The weekend is forecast to be reasonably clear (even sunny on Sunday!). However, we have some rain forecast for Friday.

We will physically check the venue is usable and consult with our local contacts to make sure the event looks good to go at 1pm on Friday. If we judge that there is a risk of rising water during the weekend, then we shall cancel the event. We shall notify you via all means at our disposal - email, IRC, forums and our news page.

Let me once again stress that should everything go according to plan (the preferable outcome) then the event will go ahead. However, we cannot allow for weather problems.

Please ensure that you check the web and your email before you depart for the event. In the preferred event that you do not hear any more from us, the event will go ahead!

Thank you for your attention, keep your fingers crossed and have a good Friday :) We hope to see you on Friday evening!

K

In the extremely unlikely event of a flash flood, there's a second floor to the building. We'll shift everything up there, and assess from there onwards. It won't be a problem though - as I say, we won't run the event if water is likely to be a problem.

Hope that answered your question...

Grab the most expensive stuff and run. We in britain don't tend to suffer FLASH fluds it will take an hour or two from a problem being obvious to damage being done.

Well we have tons of luvverly bright sunshine, so things are looking good. Pete and myself will be leaving Basingstoke shortly. If we arrive at the venue and the car sinks and we drown, then we will try to phone nick before the air runs out, so he can let you know the event is off :)

But looking at the weather, I don't foresee any problems. If you haven't got an e-mail by around 3pm ish, assume it's going ahead.

Seeya later folks

Shotgun LAN 15 is on. I repeat: SG15 is on!

The venue's looking good - there's only one puddle in the car park now!
See you all this evening!
