New console?

Re: lol
That stat sounds pretty accurate to me. When you consider the market penetration of the original Playstation and the brand it established, it's no surprise...Kulgan wrote:Against all better judgement, I'm injecting a small modicum of sanity into the thread.
Um, that's one console per 10 inhabitants of the entire country.DjArcas wrote:Great. PS2 sold 6+ million in this country alone.
That's eeeever so slightly unlikely. Where are you getting your stats from? Pete's Dodgy Stats Generator (TM)?

all hail yoshis box
tbh tho really its not about which console anymore, since alot of games are going multi format, and i dont think one single console has a "perfect range" of games
driving : well its got to be gran turismo hasnt it,
shootemup : halo natch
anything from the strat or sim market, the spod market, is gonna be pc based
your clutch of designer zany mentalistic games are gonna be on the gamecube (smb et al)
best bet is to be a rich bastard and have the lot
personally ive got a ps2..but havent got the other 2 current "super" consoles, due in part only to the fact i would need to spend about £300 per console to get what i want (although ive seen a nice deal on an Xbox)
with my pc..although its expensive, i like the freedom of configuration and control, and yes anything released on the pc market i can play, no competition between graphics card makers to vie for different games as they are ususally supported (or at least the major ones are) by most games that are released
so to surmise...are people really going to want to buy ANOTHER peice of hardware to play for the most part established games and ports?...i think not
will the pc games market die?
i dont think so....for racing and shooting games its possible, but i cant see the entire lamer CS population all moving to console based games without a fuss (nowhere to plug your £400 mouse in for a start) but so long as they continue to make strategy and simulation games...then the pc will stay alive as consoles never manage to replicate these
each platform has its own style really and while the market for racing and arcade style games is pitiful on the PC, its not the be-all and end-all of gaming
all hail the sega saturn ! P.D.S. rox0r j00

I was sorely tempted to buy Panzer Dragoon Orta while I was in the US, wish I had now. Guess I'll have to wait for it to come out over here now. It's been getting some great reviews, and although I never played any of the original PD games, I'm looking forward to this one.

orta is in my opinion irrelevant
had it been an RPG in the style of saga...i would have quit my job bought an Xbox and commenced playing it till i was thrown out of my house
but its not
panzer dragoon 1 and 2 were fantastic...but still dwell in the realm of "decent games", saga however....my eyes doth melt
btw if anyone has seen a copy of this ANYWHERE tell me as i will pay any cost to get it
bleh that game deserves 100% in any ratings magazine...it has no single bad feature, even the dialogue...in japanese...thousands of times better than the shoddy "dubbed" games we see nowadays (anyone played FFX?)
and this was like 1996? incredible, soundtrack is l33t....(also if anyone has seen the OST again point me to it) combat system...pure diamond genius, story incredible, having played the first 2 games and gone...storyline..eh? the third game makes it all crystal clear, it even had tamagotchi/micromanagement features...waaaay before games like black and white, depending on how you treated your dragon it would gain extra abilities and suchlike
and omfg...the dragon...balancing the offensive/defensive and physical/spiritual properties...bleh enough with the raving I MUST PLAY THIS GAME NOW
team andromeda are teh win
this and flashback are 2 games that everyone must play before they die...that should be LAW
/me goes to ebay to see if there is a pal copy of the game

They are clearly out of their tiny little minds. Or on crack anyway.
Seems to be a PC in a box that downloads broadband content.
As opposed to a closed system like X-Box (before you say it).
Why don't they just burn their money instead?
seems they missed their release date
