the nas unit itself is just a box that sits on the network with no monitor, mouse or keyboards just a shared drive array which is all i was after only upgraded

the reason i was asking for info on the software (free bsd) was so i could load up the OS on an old comp an format the drive there or copy the partition off the old drive and re insert the new drive with all data back into the nas box

unfortunately the os is on the drives so getting the os to partition a new drive may be a tad impossible which disc i dont know and they can be a bit of a pig to upgrade from what i have read although someone did manage to get a 120gig drive in the single disc version

i was wondering if there was an xp compatible partition prog that would do the job or failing that i suppose i could get a copy of free bsd an load it up on an old machine by which case is it downloadable
