Well, thought I'd bolster the artwork forum a bit
I've got a uni assignment to do in 3D Studio/Maya, brief is a 'room on a spaceship' with a 3000 polygon limit. I've got some sketches I'll scan in later, but for now here's the results of today's tinkerings (mainly re-acquainting myself with the max interface)

Well, I figured a good way to make the most of the 3000 poly limit would be to make a scene like the bit in star wars where luke gets his hand sliced off, a bit long shaft. That way I can have the scene stretch off into the distance without requiring masses of polys.
And it beats modelling chairs, tables, cupboards, yada yada...
