USB Composite video input doohickey

Right. I bought a Hauppage WinTV USB in the hope I could use my XBox/Gamecube/Dreamcast/SNES etc through it on my laptop, but the composite video image comes out black and white.
Standard RF input is fine, if a little noisy. But not a good enough pic to play Rez properly anyway.
But the composite image is peachy clear.
Apart from the black and white problem. Am I being incredibly dense and missing something, or do I need to try another solution?

Check your video format (PAL/NTSC) settings, most likely the problem.

Alas, didn't seem to be the case. The input in question was set to PAL, I tried all three PAL sub-formats too. Was still B&W on the GC bootscreen too. Anyway, I'm not defeated yet.

Yay a chance for sensible imput...
I dont know if it is the same as mine but do you have PAL/NTSC or do you have like 6 options when you are tuning channels, not composite but channels. You change it in the tunig section for a random chanel you make up and then the composite will decode as it were in the same way...
Hope this is of some use... If it isnt sorry for wasting your time

Ah... the joys of consoles and TV Cards...

The only thing I could ever get to work was a magnificent package called DScaler (which may or may not support USB thingmys). It basically contains support for demunging the input signals into a nice format... Consoles tend to push the limits of the RF TV specs.

Good luck :)
