Just an idea...

Ok, as you may have noticed, we've not had a lan for a while. The reason for this is that Pete and Nick are both in their final year of uni, and have those exam things and whatnot to do.

I have a cunning plan :!:

Not discussed this with Pete and Nick at all, which they'll probably yell at me for...but nm :)

I propose a bodged LAN! I am now fully LAN-mobile, so I could quite happily come down one weekend (provided I could get a lift from Aldershot station) and just run a mini-LAN.

Maybe a 'bring your own' LAN, cos we wouldn't have any switches or cables (well, I could bring our FS516 at a pinch). It will be effectively an invite-only LAN, cos there won't be any admins to speak of, just a load of tables :) Wouldn't want more than 30 people either.

Thoughts?

This sounds like a very good idea to me. When do u plan to hold this BodgedLAN (tm)? As for your lift I will prolly be able to pick u up from the station.

Ok,

I'll bring down the gigabit switches and dual Xeon servers then... All we need now are network cables. If you ask BoxLogic nicely, I am sure they can help out!

Right, well it seems that people are interested :) Strangely, I've not heard a peep from Pete or Nick on the subject, I'll give Pete a ring tomorrow.

I think our CAT5 is all at Pete's house, in which BoredAtWork could bring it along?

and Dav....you're not invited. Don't even THINK about filling my inbox with your drivel either.

Well, that's if you cycle like a complete cvnt. I don't jump lights or go the wrong way down one way streets. :P
