PCGamer are giving away sparkle based boards, they have good quality memory on apparently, make of that what you will, MSI, yeh, on Scan.co.uk a lot, i was thinking about picking one up, also their motherboards look quite good, but i havent delved further than specs on that. i've heard of mentor as well, but canne remember where from.

I got a sparkle Geforce 4 Ti4400 128Mb.

Card works great, overclocks to Ti4600 speeds without complaint, good card.

EXCEPT!

It isn't compatible with the Win2k/XP default nVidia driver. Which means that you can't install 2k/xp without first either a) burying an updated detonator driver in the install before running it, or b)installing Win98 then upgrading. (When I say 'isn't compatible', I mean you get a screen-full of colourful random lines as soon as windows setup tries to initialise the display)

I tried bios updates to fix it, but no luck. Maybe it's just a compatibility problem with my Epox 8KHA+ mobo, but it's still irritating. But then, it is just an annoyance, once you got windows installed no problems.

I have had similar probelms with my MSI Ti4200 but I'm hoping a bios update solved the problem as I'm planning to reinstall XP tonight.

wish me luck.

I would go for a Gainward or a Leadtek card, although my gf4 ti4200 is made by PNY.

My Sparkle card was a *lot* cheaper than any of the more well known brands, and I knew it had good quality memory from hunting around on the net.

Yeah sparkle are very good, my old gf3 was sparkle and it was quite a bit cheaper than anything else at the time and came with highest quality ram around and overclocked really well and was very stable when overclocked.

I recommend em
