Word of advice, read what you type
and it's not illegal to do that to a case.

Alternatively, most online component vendors sell that kinda crap.

What are you expecting it to disrupt exactly? Is it next to something electronically sensitive like a life support machine..

I think the problem is with is not being a metal case and it giving off radio waves that will intefere with other electric appliances in our house. it'll completely wipe out the TV signal apparently, sparks knows all about this, it's his job, radio waves and all, so I shall have to get him to make a post
then we find out

It's ok with just one PC, but a whole LAN is a different matter. Try getting a tv signal at a LAN, ain't gonna happen.

It's about as likely to interfere with the TV in a transparent case as one in a metal box or one with a window.
Unless your TV is sat on top of the computer and uses a coat hanger for an arial I would not worry...

The issue isn't the lights, it's the electrmagnetic interference which may or may not be released by not having a metallic case to shield it.

Dont help him!
It is only a 286, it probably doesnt emit enough radiation to detect, let alone do any harm, anyway.
