voice comms

Post by rib? »

what voice comms are used for games nowerdays? i know Counterstink has it built in through the Halflife engine, but what about BF1942, MOH:AA, wolfie, q3a, Cossacks, shogun etc, is it all down to Roger Wilco?

all i know about direct voice is that is was the "battlefield" voice comms product that was available a year back, anyway microsoft bought the guys that made it, with a view to bundle it in directX.

Good plan if you ask me, and the perfect tool to use with the new sidewinder voice comms thingy, wouldnt surprise me if it's the same people that have helped impliment voice comms over Xbox Live.

DirectVoice isn't a util like say, Roger Wilco, it's a developer tool, like DirectPlay, it has to be implemented in game.

GameVoice is my voice comms of choice atm, GameVoice Share if you don't have the headset (it's basically MSN voice chat), does the job :)

Call me old fashioned, but I still prefer shouting...

Obviously voice comms are not for LAN-age, where shouting rules supreme :) People can probably hear you better just shouting rather than shouting through a mic ;)

shouting is good.
it takes a bit of load off the old CPU during times of battle... :)
