SG16 Final bits...

Post by PeteTheHair »

Morning all...

Righty then. SG16 is nearly upon us, and I'm panicing nicely in a corner. We do have a lot of folks coming to this one, and I reckon it's going to be a good one, but it does mean that Friday night is going to be quite insane for us admins. In an effort to drive this workload down a bit, I've got some handy hints. Not only will these help us out, they will also reduce your chances of being eaten alive by the trained monkey army we keep handy :)

First, the basics:
Event : Shotgun LAN 16
Dates : 18-20th July (this coming weekend)
Location : TSS Swiftsure, Aldershot
Entrance time : Start turning up from 8pm
More details : http://www.shotgunlan.com/sg13.php, or mail me on Pete@shotgunlan.com
Remember to bring : Headphones, 4 Ways
Marsupials : Bring your own

More detailed stuff:
The network this time should be more than fast enough to choke a racoon, and we'll be running a stack of convenient network services to help out. Network addresses will be given out by DHCP, and you can save a bit of time by setting up your networking beforehand. Simply set your network card to "Obtain an IP Address Automatically" under windows, and you're away. Please kill any DHCP servers you have running before you get onto the network, as this will place you in mortal danger. Folks running ICS, and sharing net connections under Windows need to disable this, as it also carries a DHCP server.

There will be an internal website with all kinds of useful info at www.shotgun.lan once you get onto the network. This is definitely worth a browse when you first arrive, as it will probably answer any queries you have without bothering us :)

Lastly, if you're not planning on coming, but are signed up, we'd really appreciate it if you removed yourself from the "Coming" list, or mail me and I'll do it. It really does help to have an accurate idea of how many people we're expecting. Cheers.

Right, that's it then... If you got any queries, drop me a mail, and I'll see you all on Friday
