I just think it's amusing that you're both so fixated on Japan, thas all. I prefer to keep a broad outlook and just like what the hell I like instead of trying to like something just because it all fits in nicely with other stuff I like.

Like.

Ho hum..

I was more referrring to
all praise to all things japanese!
;)

I can understand liking some anime series, but obsessing about 'anime' is like me saying that all American drama series are fantastic just because The West Wing, 24 and Twin Peaks are so darn good.

Don't you think it's incredibly shallow to just like anything that comes out of Japan?

Hmm, I actually preferred the Subtle Knife to Northern Lights. Sure, not so much happened, but the theme was a lot more mature (dark matter, multiple dimensions etc..)

One thing that surprised me was how violent the books are, I though they were kids books! The fight between the bears is just sick!

But there's a hell of a lot more replicated information in a video stream than in, say, a database. Think about it, just off the top of my head I'd say that roughly 50% of data every frame is identical to the last frame in most video, that makes it a helluva lot easier to compress the sucka. Never watched/read any Harry Potter related gubbins. Not because I have any great dislike of it, I just haven't got round to it. The His Dark Materials trilogy by Phillip Pullman is class tho, I've read the first two (Northern Lights then The Subtle Knife) must remember to grab a copy of The Amber S...

This thread is a big fat waste of time. Why are you arguing over the definition of the word 'cartoon'?

At least argue whether Pokemon is a big fat steaming pile of turd or something.

You'll probably find that DivX compression would be crap if applied to any type of data other than video....

Ok, on a different tune, I'd pick :

Van Morrison : his album Moondance (and the title track) are *pure* genius. Don't rate him as a person much (bit of a racist Irishman)

and now I'm going into town..

Right, I'm going to buck the trend here and name some non-rock/metal artists :D First up, Bjork. I know some of you will be sniggering now but all her albums are really exceptional. Forget the spitting image gag, she's written some of the best electronic music of the last decade (Human Behaviour, Ba...

Where a = Money spent on TV/X-Box/DVD/CDs/PC/Games,

and b = money spent on g/f

a = b*10

Does that make me a bad man?

I'd remove R6 and H&D, maybe CS too, they can come in a team-based shooter poll :)
